The Fundamentals of Business Cards

By Brent Durell

Corporate business cards are a specific type of business card printing product which is primarily designed for the use of big businesses and companies of various trades. The design of these high quality business cards may be left to a single person under the company or even a special publicity team that handles all of the different aspects of a companys marketing strategy, but whoever handles the planning and production, they must remember some fundamental things that would simplify the process and make it easier to understand and manipulate. From the design templates to the printing design up to the final high quality prints, the card printing process involves any and all of the following consideration.

a. Logo. All companies have logosat least, all successful companies and businesses do. And for the ones assigned to the corporate business card production, there are two possible scenarios they will be faced with. The first is that the company logo is already made and need only to be put in and positioned within the business card, while the second is that the logo still needs to be edited or designed from scratch. Either way, the logo is a very crucial component of the business card, or any other commercially printed publicity material for that matter, and without a good logo your business card would lose identity. Good company logos definitely rake in some faithful, high-paying customers, so if you want your full color custom business cards to be complete, better give this some attention.

b. Information. With corporate business cards in the printing business, it is slightly trickier and different to put in relevant information than with personal cards or trade business cards. That is because you are not publicizing a profession or a specific person, but instead selling a certain companys name and good reputation. A typographical error in a corporate business card is certainly more devastating than a typo in a personal business card, because while a single person can lose his career at the right circumstances, thousands of employees can lose their jobs if a company fails because of some defective cards. Corporate business card makers, take heed.

c. Distribution Strategy. The final thing to consider with corporate business card is the distribution strategy, how people are going to receive your cards and learn more about the company behind you. This could be an active undertakingdistributing your cards just like flyers and bookmarksor this could be a passive undertakingdisplaying your corporate cards for customers and clients to take at their will. The distribution strategy is also an important consideration and while the previous two points have something to do with the during part of the printing process, this one is concerned with the after.

Business card printing can seem so complicated when you look at it and all of the different categories and subcategories filed underneath it. However, the basic understanding of these things is necessary for the success of the business cards people will distribute, so what is a little space in your brain compared to the many benefits you could get with successful business card printing.
